Udon bowls
At our Amsterdam udon restaurant, every bowl is built around handmade udon noodles prepared fresh using premium Japanese flour and our 400kg Sanuki udon machine imported from Japan. The result is thick, elastic noodles with the signature chew that defines authentic Japanese udon.
Udon is simple, honest food — focused on texture, balance, and clarity of flavour. Alongside traditional favourites, we also explore a few non-traditional twists, including our bold Sichuan-style udon. And of course, there’s our Fou Fow special.
Here’s a selection of our udon dishes:
- Fou Fow Classic Udon – topped with shrimp tempura, wakame, tofu, and egg, this bowl brings together texture and depth in one complete experience.
- Kake Udon – a warm, soothing bowl of noodles served in a gentle, savoury broth. Pure comfort in its simplest form.
- Zaru Udon – chilled noodles presented on a bamboo tray with refreshing tsuyu dipping sauce. Light, clean, and perfect for warmer days.
- Kitsune Udon – crowned with sweet, golden fried tofu pouches, offering a delicate balance of sweetness and umami.
- Curry Udon – thick noodles served in a rich and fragrant Japanese curry broth, hearty and deeply satisfying.
- Beef Udon (Niku Udon) – our classic kake udon topped with tender beef and slowly simmered onions in a sweet-savoury sauce. The chewy noodles absorb the umami-rich broth for a comforting, filling bowl.
- Sichuan-Style Udon – a bold, spicy interpretation with warming aromatics and tingling heat, perfect for those looking for something adventurous.
Every bowl is prepared with care, from noodle to broth to toppings. Whether you’re joining us for lunch, dinner, or exploring Japanese udon in Amsterdam for the first time, our menu offers a balanced and satisfying experience.

Side dishes
Complete your udon meal with carefully prepared side dishes designed to complement the noodles. Choose from crispy karaage, deep-fried gyoza, fresh spinach with sesame dressing, pickled cucumber, or light tempura. Each dish adds texture and contrast to your bowl.
Drinks
To accompany your udon, we offer a curated selection of drinks. Enjoy chilled Japanese tea, crisp Asahi beer, smooth sake, or sweet umeshu (plum wine) — simple pairings that let the noodles remain the focus.
